Our Liaison Officers assist with practical challenges, connecting individuals with support systems and resources.
Individual support around accessing services and support.
i.e. ACC, Work and Income, and other government organisations or community agencies. Our clients find it extremely helpful to have someone who is knowledgeable on entitlements and the systems they have to deal with, who is able to speak up on their behalf if required.
Our Liaison Service is based at our office on George Street in Dunedin where we have a library of relevant books for clients to borrow along with other pamphlets, factsheets and information.
Information and education to understand and manage the effects of the injury, support groups to encourage confidence, avoid isolation and reintegrate back into the community in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Free confidential, personal advice, all questions whatever they maybe are important and need answering. Having someone to help navigate the various systems you have to deal with helps.
We understand that a brain injury affects not only the injured person but the whole family – from financial challenges to social upheaval, isolation and job loss. It creates stress and pressure on those with the injury and their loved ones.
We are the only community based organisation that is independent, available and keen to support individuals and families.
